Dosing of Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil)
It is best to use a patient’s weight to dose them for medications. This is
meant to be a resource for how much medication can be given based on a child’s
weight. If you are not sure if you should give a medication, please call our
office.
Ibuprofen should not be given for a child who is less than 6 months old, no
matter what their weight is. Acetaminophen should not be given in a child
under 2 months of age without consulting with a doctor first.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- Dose can be repeated every 4 hours as needed
- Do not give more than 5 doses in 24 hours
