Flu Vaccine Available by Appointment Only

FLU VACCINE AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

(No Walk-Ins accepted – MUST have an appointment)

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will be doing things a little differently this year.

It is very important that you have discussions with your child(ren) prior to coming in for the Flu Vaccine so they will be prepared. For everyone’s safety – we need to minimize the time in the office; and due to the limited amount of time allotted for each appointment, we are unable to allow extra time for such discussions in the office. We may ask you to reschedule if we are not able to give the vaccine in a timely manner.

Here are a few options for you to choose from:

Option 1:

 Starting Wednesday, Sept. 9th through Thursday, Dec. 17th, 2020, we will be offering the Flu Vaccine by appointment only. Call the office and schedule an appointment (No Walk-Ins accepted) for a Wednesday or Thursday (Except when the office is closed).

Each family member will need to be scheduled for an appointment in advance. Unfortunately, we are unable to register any additional family members in the office.

There is a $35.00 fee/per parent (see “Billing and Insurance” below).

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time and call from the parking lot to complete your visit intake. Due to the rapid pace of the Flu Shot clinic, we will be unable to accommodate late patients and you may be asked to reschedule.

Option 2:

Flu Vaccines can be given at scheduled well visit appointments for “add on” siblings or parents. ALL family members MUST register at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled well visit appointment. Unfortunately, we will be unable to register any additional family members in the office.

There needs to be 2 adults present for this option. Once you arrive for your appointment, call from the parking lot to complete your intake. Once you are called in for your appointment, the entire family will enter at the beginning of the appointment. The Flu Vaccine will be given at the beginning of the appointment, and then one of the adults and any siblings that are not being seen for a well visit will need to return to the car for the remainder of the appointment.

Option 3:

We will be offering two-weekend events for the Flu Vaccine only on Sunday, September 13th and Saturday, September 26th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Appointments are required (No Walk-Ins accepted).

All family members receiving the Flu Vaccine will need to be scheduled prior to the date of the event. Unfortunately, we are unable to register any additional family members in the office.

More information about these scheduled weekend events and possible additional event dates to follow as we work out the details and await more Flu Vaccine shipments.

BILLING AND INSURANCE:

Patients – Insurance will be billed

Parents – $35.00, due at the time of service/scheduling; Parents choosing to obtain their own flu vaccines at our office do so with the acknowledgment that they have opted to do so outside of their insurance coverage. We are unable to engage in insurance billing, documentation or refunds. A receipt will be given upon request for FLEX plans or for personal records. We will not be offering a receipt for insurance reimbursement.

COVID 19 & Office Update

Hello Friends and Happy Summer!
As the state restrictions are being lifted and general recommendations evolve, we want to provide you an update of our current operating schedule and procedures.
We have resumed regular operating hours and visit availability with some modifications to ensure staff and patient safety. However, our walk-in clinic on Monday and Friday mornings remain CANCELLED until further notice.
We ask that you please be patient with us as we are trying hard to serve you our very best in these unprecedented times.
We want you to know that we are HERE for you!

WELL VISITS

We are open and available for Well Visits for ALL AGES. Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the State of Maryland have encouraged timely pediatric primary care visits and immunizations. Call and schedule your child’s well visit today!
The following procedures are in place to maximize your safety:
  • When you arrive for the scheduled appointment – please call the office while in the parking lot, before coming into the office. We will check with the medical assistant working with your provider to ensure they are ready to take you back to an available and disinfected exam room. We are striving to run on time, but with the additional steps taken, it is unlikely that we will be able to see you earlier than your scheduled appointment. We try to minimize the amount of time you wait but feel the safest place would be in your own vehicle.
  • We are requiring parents/guardians to wear masks, as well as requesting all children (age 3+) to wear masks.
  • To minimize the number of people in the office – we only allow one (1) parent/guardian and the patient(s) being seen in the office. Please refrain from bringing additional siblings.
  • We have dedicated exam rooms for sick and well patients.
  • All exam rooms are being disinfected after each patient.
  • Providers and clinical staff are wearing the appropriate protective equipment for each patient situation.

VIRTUAL VISITS

We are still offering virtual visits for many acute illnesses and follow-up visits. Remember, virtual visits may not be appropriate for all illness concerns and cannot always replace an in-person office visit. If the provider recommends a same day sick visit during your virtual visit, the virtual visit will not be billed. For more information visit our website: https://www.pacaremd.com/patient-resources/virtual-visits/
If you would like to schedule a virtual visit please call the office at 301-681-6730. Virtual visits are the perfect opportunity for you to address concerns that perhaps have been put off. They can be used for: medication refill appointments, ADHD rechecks, Asthma rechecks, behavior concerns, rashes, acne, developmental concerns, nutrition discussion and MORE!
*Unfortunately, we are not able to complete Well Visits virtually at this time*

SICK VISITS

If your concerns are not able to be addressed during a virtual visit, we may recommend an in-office sick visit.  We are scheduling in-office sick visits if needed. These can range from follow-up visits to injury-related visits to illness concerns.
In addition to the procedures listed above (under well visits) the following procedures are also in place for all sick visits:
  • We are using a separate entrance and exit – Please park in a space near our side entrance (when facing the front of the building from Prosperity Drive there is a glass door to the right of the building) and call the office while in the parking lot when arriving for your scheduled appointment. We will check with the medical assistant working with your provider to ensure they are ready to take you back to an available and disinfected exam room.
We are striving to run on time, but with the additional steps, it is unlikely that we will be able to see you earlier than your scheduled appointment. We try to minimize the amount of time you wait but feel the safest place would be in your own vehicle.
  • Copays are being collected at the time of scheduling please have your payment information ready. If you have insurance concerns or questions, please feel free to ask to speak with a billing staff member.
  • Not sure what kind of visit you need? Friendly reminder that we have pediatric trained nurses on staff that are happy to review you (your child’s) symptoms over the phone prior to scheduling.

Our normal “walk-in” clinics on Monday and Fridays have been CANCELLED until further notice.

*IF YOU HAVE KNOWN COVID-19 EXPOSURE, TRAVELED TO A KNOWN COVID-19 REGION OR COVID-19 SYMPTOMS PLEASE ASK TO SPEAK WITH A NURSE PRIOR TO SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT*
We greatly appreciate your adherence to these procedures – we truly want to provide a safe experience for your family during these unprecedented times!
We are closely monitoring this constantly changing and developing concern and will provide additional updates as necessary. Please watch our website as well for any additional office schedule changes.
We wish you all a safe and healthy Summer!!

COVID-19 & Office Update

Friends,

We hope this update finds you safe and well!

We want to update you with our current office availability and procedures.

As general recommendations and restrictions evolve, we remind you that routine pediatric visits are considered essential and important; ensuring our patient’s and provider/staff safety is of utmost importance, and we want you to know that we are HERE for you!

WELL VISITS

We are open and available for Well Visits. Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and State of Maryland have encouraged timely pediatric primary care visits and immunizations. We are seeing patients of all ages during scheduled well visit appointments. To continue to provide the best care possible, we intend to continue to expand the ability to do in-office well visits.
We have implemented the following procedures to minimize risks:

– Well visits are scheduled during specific blocks of time.

– We are limiting the number of providers in the office seeing patients at any given time.

– Using personal vehicles as “waiting rooms” – We ask that you call when arriving for an appointment from your car and we will let you know if/when it is safe for you to come through the front doors.

– We are requiring parents and requesting older children (age 10+) to wear masks.

– Please refrain from bringing additional siblings to the visit if they are not being seen.

– We have dedicated exam rooms for sick and well patients.

– All exam rooms are being disinfected after each patient.

– Providers and clinical staff are wearing the appropriate protective equipment for each patient situation.

For more information, visit our Virtual Visit section by clicking here.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS

– Our normal “walk-in” clinics on Monday and Fridays have been CANCELLED until further notice. We would like to have the opportunity to speak with you and discuss your child’s needs and if needed schedule an office visit.

– If you or your child have recently traveled to a known COVID-19 region or have had direct contact (generally contact within 6 feet for more than 10 minutes) with a known case and are feeling ill, we ask that you remain at home and notify us by phone so we can follow the currently established guidelines and potentially avoid exposure to other patients, staff and providers in our office. It is also useful to know the nature of any illness visit to plan the proper timing and arrival details for patients.

We are closely monitoring this constantly changing and developing concern and will provide additional updates as necessary. Please watch our website as well for any additional office schedule changes.

Virtual Visits Now Available

VIRTUAL VISITS NOW AVAILABLE

We are now offering Virtual Visits. While the hours the office is open have been slightly shortened, we are still open and available for your child’s needs! To maintain safe distancing and minimizing risks and exposure and to assess your child’s symptoms and concerns, most illness related visits will first be done as a Virtual Visit with one of our providers.
We are dedicated to providing the best care possible for your child, but virtual visits may not be appropriate for all illness concerns and cannot always replace an in-person office visit. If the provider recommends a same day sick visit during your Virtual Visit, the Virtual Visit will not be billed.
If you have had some concerns that perhaps you haven’t been able to make time for in the past, now is the perfect opportunity to get those concerns addressed by a Virtual Visit.
Some examples of what a Virtual Visit can be used for are:
* Medication Refill Appointments
* ADHD Rechecks
* Asthma Rechecks
* Behavior Concerns
* Chronic Problems
* Rashes
* Acne
* Developmental Concerns
* Healthy Living Visits
* Nutrition
and MORE
Please note, at this time, we are not doing well visits as a Virtual Visit.
If you would like to schedule a virtual visit please call the office at 301-681-6730

COVID-19 & Office Update

Friends,
We wish to extend this update to assure you of our ongoing availability to help as we all navigate the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recommendations are constantly changing and being updated as the situation unfolds. Please continue to check our website periodically and the constantly updated sources listed below.
We have changed some of our office schedules and procedures. Please call us at (301) 681-6730 before coming to the office as there may be shortening of available office hours.
To minimize risks and exposure for our patients and staff, we have separated “sick” and “well child” visit times to prevent overlap in the office.
We have dedicated exam rooms for sick patients only. Rooms are disinfected after each patient. Providers and clinical staff are wearing the appropriate protective equipment for each patient situation.
Our normal “walk-in” clinics on Monday and Fridays have been CANCELLED until further notice. We would like to have the opportunity to speak with you and discuss your child’s needs and if needed schedule an office visit.
Also, we are now utilizing virtual visits for some situations and visits. We can arrange virtual visits for routine medication rechecks, behavior concerns, and developmental concerns. Some illness related concerns may also be considered for a virtual visit. Please be patient with us as this is new and we are learning the system.  We are dedicated to providing the best care possible but virtual visits may not be appropriate for all illness concerns and cannot always replace an in-person office visit.
At this time if you or your child have recently traveled to a known COVID-19 region or have had direct contact (generally contact within 6 feet for more than 10 minutes) with a known case and are feeling ill, we ask that you remain at home and notify us by phone so we can follow the currently established guidelines and potentially avoid exposure to patient and providers in our offices. It is also useful to know the nature of any illness visit to plan the proper timing and arrival details for patients.
We continue to be available to assist with other illness and concerns. At this time, we continue to be available for well and preventive care; however, in compliance with public health instructions, in-office visits will be limited to essential visits. Therefore, we will continue to see infants and young children for their well visits associated with important immunizations. At this time, it is appropriate to reschedule routine well visits for older children without pressing concerns and not needing timely immunizations. With uncertainty as to the length of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is worthwhile to continue prevention for other diseases (e.g. immunizations), as conditions permit. We do not want epidemics of vaccine-preventable diseases to follow this COVID-19 pandemic! We will help you determine which well visits should occur now and which should be postponed.
The best defense in general to any viral infection is good hand washing.

COVID-19 Information & Walk-In Clinic Suspended

Due to the increasing concern regarding the risks of COVID-19, more familiarly known as the novel Coronavirus and in effort to minimize risks and exposure for our patients and staff, we have decided that it is necessary to change our “regular” office schedule.

Our normal “walk-in” clinics on Monday and Fridays have been CANCELLED until further notice. We would like to have the opportunity to speak with you and discuss your child’s needs and if needed schedule an office visit.

At this time if you or your child have recently traveled to a known COVID-19 region or have had direct contact (generally contact within 6 feet for more than 10 minutes) with a known case and are feeling ill, we ask that you remain at home and notify us by phone so we can follow the currently established guidelines and potentially avoid exposure to patient, staff and providers in our office.  It is also useful to know the nature of any illness visit to plan the proper timing and arrival details for patients. Please call us at (301) 681-6730 before coming to the office as there may be shortening of available office hours.

We continue to be available to assist with other illnesses and concerns. At this time, we continue to be available for well and preventive care; with uncertainty as to the length of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is worthwhile to continue prevention for other diseases (e.g. immunizations), as conditions permit.  We are endeavoring to do sick and well care at different times of the day during this unusual period.

The best defense in general to any viral infection is good hand washing.

We are closely monitoring this constantly changing and developing concern and will provide additional updates as necessary. Please watch our website as well for any additional office schedule changes.

NOTE: Injectable flu vaccine will be the primary recommended form of flu vaccine this year. The live-virus nasal flu vaccine (FluMist) has been reformulated and is available this season*. However, the CDC and AAP recommend children receive the injectable form of the vaccine, which was shown to be more consistently effective. For those children who would otherwise receive no flu vaccine, the AAP says the nasal spray vaccine can be given as a last resort. The nasal spray vaccine is not appropriate for children under 2 years or children with chronic medical conditions like asthma. With these recommendations by the CDC and AAP, we will have both injectable Vaccine and FluMist available this year, but will recommend the injectable vaccine for most individuals. Additional details are available on our website.
