Walk-In Sick Visits

Walk-In Sick Visits

Pediatric and Adolescent Care of Silver Spring offers an additional visit option for ill children on Monday and Friday mornings.

Children with acute illness may be seen without an appointment if arriving between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on Monday or Friday mornings.

(These “Walk-In” times will NOT be held on holidays when the office is closed.)

These visits are intended to provide a convenient option for our established patients and their families for assessing short-term uncomplicated illnesses or problems.

(These “Walk-In” times are not intended for complex/chronic problems or for Well-Child Visits.)

“Walk-In” time is for problems or infections which have just appeared over the past day or two. Many parents may find it convenient when decisions need to be made for school, work, or daycare attendance. In order for us to limit wait times on these mornings and to provide the proper care for more complex problems, please use the “Walk-In” time for the following types of problems:

  • Sore Throats
  • Vomiting
  • Wheezing/Asthma
  • Rashes
  • Diarrhea
  • Recent Injury
  • Coughs
  • Pink Eye
  • Earaches
  • Fever

We ask that you telephone to schedule same-day or future appointments for other problems that are less urgent or may have been around for a while, such as:

  • All newborn problems
  • Behavioral problems
  • Headaches
  • School problems
  • Feeding or eating problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Constipation
  • Recurring stomach aches
  • Recurrent injuries
  • More than one problem or illness to be addressed

These above kinds of issues are important and require more time to evaluate and manage properly and thus are best scheduled. We will, as always, continue to see your child any day he or she needs to be seen. You also may still choose to schedule appointments for any type of illness–you may prefer to be seen at a different time of the day or schedule an appointment with a specific doctor or nurse practitioner. Your help in following these guidelines will be much appreciated by all. “Walk-In” patients whose problems are not appropriate for the “Walk-In” time may be asked to schedule for another more appropriate appointment time.

The “Walk-In” times are for established patients only of Pediatric and Adolescent Care of Silver Spring. We welcome new patients to the practice – call to schedule a first appointment during regular office hours.

We are excited to offer this service and innovation and welcome your comments and suggestions as you use or consider these appointments.
